CO Blue Ribbon
Healthcare Commission
The Colorado Blue Ribbon Commission for Healthcare Reform has five healthcare
proposals they are considering to recommend to the Legislature in 2008. It is
important that all citizens and businesses become familiar with the proposals
and see how these ideas will potentially impact you. The website to view the
proposals and the make-up of the Commission is
http://www.colorado.gov. There will be a push in the 2008 session from some
Democrats to pass Canadian-style Universal Healthcare (single-payer). Others
may attempt to pass something that falls short of single-payer healthcare – but
that will impose more mandates on the healthcare market driving up costs. There
are some recommendations (as there was nationally) to expand healthcare dollars
to middle-class kids from families that make $75,000 - $80,000 annually – thus
putting more kids on government-run healthcare. There will be numerous proposals
recommended and discussed next session. The Blue Ribbon website is updated
regularly as proposals are modeled and refined. Stay posted through fall on the
updates and dates the Commission will come to your community. |
